av reciver sansui eight deluxe has one of the most complex costructions and the best components, compared to other devices from that time they have much in common with more modern constructions, for example fm head similar to that in model tu-x1 switchable resistor ladders in eq section, same were used in amplifier, model au-999 in the same amp were used very similar power outputs in general it’s the highest av reciver model made back in the day, and with the best sound in my opinion previous version of eight deluxe is model 7000 same caseing, same look, switches and knobs setup difference: power outputs, power supply block, little smaller radio tuner block
this here of course needs service, have never been repaired all components in here are original, ile it was out of the box the biggest problem here are not potentiometers or knobs, but switches here after pressing low filter, high filter, load, it causes pauses and interruptions in both channels switches have to be fixed everything must be cleaned and of course fm tuner has to be adjusted lack of covering between scale indicator and frequency is a standard in old equipment detector’s zero too
all of that is because of old electronic elements here is simple test let’s set detector’s zero signal level is lower now when everything is adjusted properly, this pointer has to be in the middle and signal level should be the highest if stereo light flashes, and signal has maximum level, detector’s pointer is tilted to right, so tuner needs adjustment construction separate fm head separate capacitor for am tunning, so very good solution

and are nearly invisible, because are covered by this piece, are made of die-cast aluminium glass instead of plexi aluminium front, without a scratch such device 40 years old is nowadays a rarity here on power amp plate, those two capacitors supposedly could be replaced due to high temperature generated by this high power resistor in such enviroment elements can age fairly quick so they have to be checked same thing goes to power supply capacitors, on bottom it’s a bad thing in almost all devices, placing resistors and transistors on bottom, because it causes heating of those elements common fault are those plates on buttons

it’s the worst part here, disassembling parts and cleaning them, then putting back together service is almost finished most time consuming were tuner adjustment and cleaning all parts here tuner works perfectly, no knob is allowed to crack, interrupt signal etc. visually – new service is fully completed what i did: adjusted fm tuner, cleaned everything i could, setting up bias and 0 dc parameters fixed all potentiometers and switches, replaced some lights, some capacitors contact plates in fuses, and one speaker connector
