a us$219 smartphone with finger print sensor? this is the one. coolpad shine is a smartphone with 5.5 inch display and 0.9cm thickness. the bezel looks very thin when the display is off, but actually it's not. 2 sim card slots revealed after removing the back cover, slot 1 supports 4g lte while slot 2 only supports 2g. a microsd slot is available as well. there's no backlight supporting menu buttons but led notification is in place. and a finger print sensor on the back side is definitely a charm you can't miss. although it might be a bit difficult to use finger print sensor with one hand luckily this phone has plastic-aluminium-like material that's not slippy.

cool ui is a simple user interface with no app drawer but it has run on android 5.1.1. several screen transition effects are available and you can hide icon labels to make screen looks neat. cool ui consumes approximately 800mb ram in idle state but it increases up to 1.3gb when running more than 5 apps. gesture feature such as double tap to wake and swiping the display upward or downward with 3 fingers vertically to take a screenshot, contribute in ram consumption. there are 8 gestures available. the c button, similar to iphone's assistive touch button, is functioned as home, back, lock screen, mute and screenshot button. cool ui also integrates news stream service which can be accessed by swiping the home screen all the way to the left. coolpad shine has 720p ips panel display with high pixel density and vibrant colours but still convenience to look at

thanks to in-cell technology, which is also used in iphone 6. qualcomm snapdragon 615 1.5ghz octa-core cpu and 2gb ram still deliver good day to day performance. game like need for speed: no limits can run without any problem. the 8gb internal storage with only 4gb usable storage is the shortcoming of coolpad shine when we install game with more than 500mb in size, there's only few free space left because not all apps movable to microsd. despite of lack in internal storage, colpad shine still the most affordable smartphone with finger print sensor. the sensor response is fast, even faster than iphone 6 finger print sensor and can be used to unlock the display, answer incoming call, run apps or taking pictures in less than 1 second. again, thanks to the quick response of finger print sensor.

the 2500 mah battery provides power to reach screen-on time up to 3 hours. coolpad shine boasts 13mp main camera with f/2.0 aperture while the front-facing camera has 5mp resolution and f/2.2 aperture. hdr, beauty, capture smiles and nightshot mode are available. manual or pro mode with white balance, exposure, iso (up to 800) and manual focus is also available. the main camera captures image pretty fast and produce fine images but the colour is not too accurate and noise still appears in images captured in low light condition. the front-facing camera is not satisfying either, the shutter speed is slow and images captured are pale as well as low res.
