we just got off the plane in australia andin our inbox was the firmware that was going to let us shoot the iq250 at iso 6400. nobodyhas shot this camera at 6400 yet in the wild. and it really is the wild out here. we'rein the middle of the 7 year cicada patch in australia and the cicadas are going off likecrazy. we decided to come out to the rainforest. we have just the afternoon here before weneed to hit the road again. we're going to make the most of these few hours and the overcastlight and really put this iso of 6400 to the test. so cool right now! the sun is hiddenbehind the mountain and there's just a little bit of light kissing the side of this treeso it's really beautiful right now. i'm known as being an action-sports photographer but i appreciate landscape and the structure of
nature and wild environments whether thereis a subject in there or not. often times when you are shooting on assignment or ona commercial project you fall into the same routines and shoot what you're comfortablewith because it is not the right place to take chances. so when you get the chance tocome out and shoot for fun that is an opportunity to shoot something because it feels good orbecause you want to experiment. that is why spending a couple of hours this afternoonhiking around in these trails in the jungle is really fun for me. you can take somethingthat you think is simple and add on depth and layers and interesting features to itand get a really dynamic photograph and that is what i love doing. you come out here andpeople think: oh, there's just a tree. but
if you shoot it the right way and give itthe proper amount of depth, it becomes an interesting tree to look at. that is whata good photographer should be able to do. take something that looks simple and turnit into something that looks magical. having the time to shoot personal work is keyto finding that on a regular basis. end of the day here, we had a whirlwind run aroundthe jungle. we didn't have too much time before they actually locked the gates out here sowe just did this fun hike up into the hills and now we are going to run back to the carbecause we got 10 minutes left. hopefully, they won't lock us in here. it's getting dark.it was really fun to run around and test this iso 6400 on the new 250 back. i'm excitedto get back to the hotel and check everything
out in capture one. i'm sure it is going to look awesome.
