if you have a motorola phone you should download motorola device drivers from their website. you can check the description for the manufacturers' website links to download driver files. many manufacture provides an installer for the drivers. this nexus driver does not include an installer. so i have to manually install the driver now. right clicking on the inf file we can see the install option. it will install the driver to your pc. the driver is now installed. now we can download the custom recovery for the nexus 5.

we are using the twrp recovery for this device. you can visit twrp.me/devices directly and download the recovery image. twrp a short form for team win recovery project is an open-source recovery for android devices. it provides a touchscreen-enabled interface which allows users to install third-party firmware. it can backup the current system and restore which are often unsupported by stock recovery images. after downloading the recovery we need to download and install fastboot. fastboot is a tool that can be used to re-flash partitions on your device. not all phones support fastboot. so before you proceed make sure your device actually have a fastboot mode.

when you finish downloading the fastboot open the installer. leave the default options unchanged and follow the steps. after the installation is over press the finish button. now a command window will open. you can see the installation folder in that command window. now open your downloads folder and copy the recovery file that you downloaded before. paste the file to the installation folder. you can refer the command window for the installation folder path. open the folder and paste the recovery in that folder. now we have completed almost all the steps in our pc. let's pick the phone.

to accept the command from the fastboot the phone should be in the fastboot mode. to enter into the fastboot mode first turn off your phone. after the phone is turned off press the power off and volume down button simultaneously. now the phone will be booted into the fastboot mode. now connect your usb cable to the phone. let's come back to the pc. in the command window you can type fastboot space devices to check whether your phone is detected by the fastboot. you can see your device listed in the command window with a fastboot id. now we can flash the custom recovery file to the phone.

type fastboot space flash space recovery space the file name. you can type the first two letters which tw and press tab to auto complete it. now the fastboot will flash the custom recovery to the phone. when the process is completed you can see a finished message in the command window. we have now successfully flashed the custom recovery. now open your phone and press volume down button to navigate to recovery mode. press the power button to boot into the recovery mode. now your phone should boot into the recovery mode successfully. if you have any doubts comment below.
