power than its program to. everything i justsaid in that sentence is utter bullshit i just did that to prove my nextpoint. life lesson number one. be careful of thepeople trying to make everything sound so complicated, for example let'ssay a doctor who is prescribing you medicine. the one who is honest to godtrying to help you will make everything simple and understandable, whereas thebullshitter that just wanna take your money they're gonna to be using advancedvocabulary words that only 3% of the world knows. they're up to no good no goodand on most occasions that medicine will fix one issue, and create another one that's liketwenty times worse. same goes for the technicians.

power button, the moment the phonevibrates let go of the power button while still hold the volume up. if your phone powerson, then great. i want you to do this next tomake sure that the problem does not occur again for a long time in the future.if you follow my step accordingly then you should end up on this screen with thisgreen android guy. use the volume buttons to navigate through this menu, clickthe volume down button until you reach wipe cache partition, hit the power buttonto click it. at the bottom of the screen in yellow text it'll say wiping cache,formatting cache. and than once again hold power volume and volume up key simultaneously.once you feel it vibrate this time let go

hello again, izzy at digital goja showrooms. i want high-speed sync on my altura universal flash now. well, i've seen that question across some of the customer service and also some ebay and amazon questions. we're going to go over why this does not have high-speed sync. if this video helps you out

i have a very popular eos rebel t6s and this guy actually has high speed sync in the menu, but guess what, when you put the altura universal strobe, which is universal, it's not meant to work with all sorts of cameras. notice that the contact on here is just one pin, see that? there's only one pin on there, so when i mount this on

and turn it on let's go into my menu setting and go to flash control and go to external flash there's that famous warning: this menu cannot be displayed incompatible flash or flash power is turned off. we know the flash powers do not turn off, there is the flash it's activated it just doesn't want to access that menu because

this is a fully mechanical flash, it has no ttl synchronization. now, let's try this with a ttl strobe, this one is the altura photo apc 958x for canon, this is a high-speed sync flash, second curtain, even ettl synchronization for wireless. now again, we mount this on the camera, always do all these procedures when your camera and your strobe is off.

and let's go into the menu, again flash control, i'm going to go into external flash function and there we have it, now that menu pops up and wham-o i can switch it to high-speed sync and notice that right there on on the screen on the flash it says that is set up for high-speed sync. so now i can go ahead and pick a nice fast shutter speed like

1/250 of a second and it fires off perfectly, no problem and i do have, notice the image i have no issue with the shutter curtain opening and closing quicker than the synchronization because it is meant now to synchronize perfectly with your flash at a high speed sync, so this one will do it, it will give you high speed sync

you cannot just automatically add high-speed sync to a mechanical flash like the altura photo universal. happy shooting!

here we go high-speed sync. how to setit up and how to make it work. beautiful girl, high-speed sync,how can you go wrong? ♪ [music] ♪ hi. this is jay p morgan. today on theslanted lens, we're downtown los angeles. we're going to do a little shotof beautiful angela whitworth here looking back into downtown. we're going to high-speed sync our baja b4s. the reason we're going to do that is that we want to crushthe background a little bit. we want to have control of our shutter speed. sowe'll be able to shoot at a thousandth of a second. that means we can open up theaperture, make it pretty wide open, gives

us a nice highlight with our strobes onher face. so we'll see the big buildings in the background and test this high-speedsync on the baja b4. why high-speed sync? to understandhigh-speed sync we need to understand how shutters work. shutters are two curtainsthat open and close. the first curtain and then the second curtain. at speeds slowerthan 125th of a second, sometimes 160th depending on your camera the firstcurtain opens and stays open until the shutter closes. then thesecond curtain closes. that's for slower speeds than 125thor 160th. at shutter speeds faster than 125th of a second,the first curtain of the shutter opens

and before it can completely open thesecond shutter starts to follow behind and close. this means that there's no timethat the sensor's open for light all at once. a small opening is traveling acrossthe sensor exposing it as it goes. if your strobe goes off during this time, itshows a black bar on the bottom of the frame. the way high-speed sync solves thisproblem is it starts firing the strobe in pulses as the first curtain opens and itcontinues to pulse until after the second curtain closes. this pulsing is happeningso fast that the sensor perceives this as continuous light.so what's the upside to high-speed sync? why do weuse it? first off this keeps your

strobe synced with your camera at fastershutter speeds. this allows you to shoot with a wide open aperture in bright lightsituations giving you a nice, shallow depth of field. because you can keepspeeding your shutter up to make the background go darker and darker. you canalso light your subject with strobe light and then use the shutter to darkenyour background. so the person stands out a little bit.remember shutter controls ambient light and we matchthe aperture to the power of the strobes. so if we choose "f5" now wecan move our shutter speed faster and faster to make the background dark enoughto either let the person stand out or to

make it dark enough so that it matches thestrobe light on the person's face. high-speed sync give you complete controlof your strobes at all shutter speeds. so what's the downside of high-speed sync?first of all it takes more power. i lost about a half a stop on the bajas when wewent to high-speed sync compared to full power without high-speed sync. so youlose a little bit of power. some strobes may lose more than that. i don't know. butknow that you're going to lose power when you go to high-speed sync. and with morepower you're going to use your battery up a little quicker. but you know what? incomparison to what you gain with high-speed sync, it's apretty nice trade off. so let's

get our baja b4 set-up for a high-speedsync. the first thing we're going to do is turn it on. that's a good place tostart, turn it on. then we're going to hit the rpt button until it goes to h1. it'sgoing to show us now we're in high-speed sync. we now have the ability to dial thisup or down. we can go up to h7 which is the most power the baja will give us inhigh-speed sync. and we can dial it down to h1 which is the lowest power that itwill give us in high speed sync. we're going to keep it on h7. that will give usthe ability to shoot at thousands of a second which will allow us to crush thebackground just a little bit and shoot it a little more wideopen with our aperture.

last of all, you need to push the plusthat's on the remote that sits on your camera so that the high-speed sync willconnect with the baja b4. let's take a look at our shoot downtown. in losangeles, you can get a permit to shoot on the streets. you can't be on privateproperty and you can't block the sidewalks but you can shoot on most all of thesidewalks. it's pretty reasonable. our camera setting's are 320 iso, 1500thof a second and f4.5. we're going to make our background blue bysimply putting our white balance on tungsten and then putting a full orange onthe strobe. so let's get this all together and kind of see what's going to happenhere. we're going to shoot a lot of

different shots. we got a couple ofmirrors we're going to put in place just to see how she looks next to the mirrors.we'll do some without the color crossover and some, most with. i like the look ofthe color crossover. it looks really nice down here. let's look at our lightingbreakdown. our key light is a medium, silver line softbox. i's going to giveus a really nice highlight on her skin. i'm going to allow the shadow exposure tobe bright enough so that it shows blue into the shadows on her face. that's it.one baja b4, dome light medium softbox and a full cto.here are some of the images unretouched. you know it'sso nice to be out and not have to worry

about power. the battery powered strobesthese days are just fabulous. i then put on a 15 to 30 millimeter tamronlens and shot some more images. i love this wide-anglelook. last of all i added a second baja b4as a rim light on the camera right side. and then we took a mirror that we hadflipped it upside down, put it up underneath her chin and reflected just alittle bit of white light back into her face. here's a quick lighting buildup. keylight, a rim light just the white backside of the mirror became a reflector cardthat bounced a little light underneath her chin. here's some more imageswith that three light setup.

i then took one of the images into niksoftware and i put a bi-color filter on it. so i put a little bit of green in thecorner. and that kind of gradates a little more blue up in the upper cornerjust thought that was interesting. i hope you learned something abouthigh-speed sync today, how we can control the background with the shutterwhether that's long or short. so check it out. usethat high-speed sync. post-note: the reason i like high-speedsync on a mono-block compared to those little tiny flashes is that you gotenough power to do something with. i hate those little flashes.

if you’re ever in a low-light situation where your subject and background both need to be lit, one easy-to-use solution is your camera’s slow sync flash mode. on its default setting, using flash will usually expose your subject correctly but may leave your background under-exposed. slow sync flash mode uses the flash to light your subject while keeping the shutter open long enough to expose the background. i’m using a d5500 which has a built-in flash but the same principle applies if you’re using an external unit like any of the nikon sb series speedlights. when your foreground and your background require balanced exposure, simply select the slow sync flash mode and let your camera do the rest.

hello again! izzy at digital goja showrooms. i had customers post questions on our youtubechannel and on customer service for amazon and ebay that they were having problems workingwith the altura trigger and their flashes. and we're going to get to the bottom of thisbecause i figured out, with the help of one customer, what was going on. if this video helps you out, hit me up witha like button underneath and remember to subscribe to our channel for future sessions and tutorialssuch as this. and don't forget, when in miami, visit meat digital goja showrooms.

alright, so, most of us have canon flashes,or here's a perfect example, the altura flash for canon cameras. now, what i found out is that while usingthe trigger this particular customer was having issues with it not synchronizing and firing off. but, we found out the issue. they're used to using, and i'll demonstrateit with the altura flash here, they're used to using their camera and the flash on tophere and they actually set their camera to live view to shoot. what's happening is, you're getting a delaynow, of course the camera now is doing the

zooming and everything because there's thecontact on here and it fires off, but look at what happens. see how there's a delay? why? because when you're on live view the reflexmirror is moved out of the way. i'll actually show you, notice how slowlythis is going to show you the image, so notice here that when you fire off it's taking longerbecause your shutter has to actually actuate and the reflex mirror has to actually go backdown because right now it's out of the way to give you the live view.

so it's taking a lot longer to synchronizeand it gets even worse when we go to work with a trigger set. i'll show you that issue. as usual, you're going to place the transmitterhere, lock it in place and then you're going to place your flash onto the receiver, lockthat in place and switch it over to flash. again, put it on either on a tripod or i happento have the little foot that comes with it. lock it in place so that it doesn't fly off,turn it on and right now it's on manual, but if i try to work with the live view, see? it doesn't fire off and a lot of times itactually gives you a warning, so this will

not synchronize this way, you'll have to haveit off of live view. notice how it fired off then because it finallygot the signal. so now, when i'm no longer on live view andi'm going to look through the view finder you're now going to be able to fire off yourtrigger set and it will work perfectly, it's just not going to function on live view. and again, this works with either an alturaflash for canon or even if you work with an original flash, like for example, the 430ex iii rt. so, there you have it, always make sure thatwhen you're going to work with a trigger set you have your camera off of live view andyou won't have any issues whatsoever using

your flash externally. happy shooting!

we’ve all heard these stories: people that live together have their periodstogether. an average menstrual cycle lasts around 28days: it starts with shedding built-up tissue in the womb, then prepping for pregnancy again. but one person might have a relatively longcycle, where someone else has a shorter cycle -- and they fluctuate month to month. so what’s the scientific basis for menstrualcycles syncing up … or is it just a myth? the first publication about this phenomenonin humans was in 1971, in the scientific journal nature.

psychologist martha mcclintock was supposedlyinspired by what she noticed as an undergraduate at a women’s school: all of her close friends seemed to get theirperiods at the same time. so, she did a study, and surveyed 135 studentsin a dorm at her alma mater, wellesley college. three times during the academic year, sheasked them for information: when their last two periods were, and who they were hangingout with. then, mcclintock analyzed these data to see how menstrual cycles changed in close friend groups. in october, near the start of the school year,she found that groups of friends had cycles that were off by an average of 6.4 days.

by april, groups of friends had periods closertogether -- only about 4.6 days apart. so it seemed like their menstrual cycles weresyncing up, and this phenomenon was dubbed the mcclintock effect, though it’s moreformally known as menstrual synchrony. but the driving force was still a mystery. some researchers, including mcclintock, hypothesizedthat pheromones were involved. pheromones are chemical substances that arereleased by an animal and detected by others in the same species, causing a behavioralor physiological reaction. some animals use them to communicate, andthey’re common in lots of social insects, like ants or bees.

a couple studies in the late 1970s and 80s,including experiments by mcclintock, looked into menstruation and pheromones in some mammals, like, rats, hamsters, and two non-human primates. most of these studies involved groups of around2 to 5 animals. their menstrual cycles seemed to align ifthey were breathing the same air, so maybe airborne pheromones were involved. but researchers in the late 1990s and early2000s tried to repeat some of the rat and hamster studies, and weren’t able to reproducethe results. without consistent findings, we can’t reallyknow if menstrual synchrony exists in mammals, or if it’s caused by pheromones.

not to mention, those animals and humans aren’tthe same. for one thing, we still don’t really evenknow if humans make pheromones. but some researchers have conducted humanstudies to try and replicate mcclintock’s initial findings. throughout the 1990s, a team of psychologistssurveyed close-knit groups of women, including college students in dorms, coworkers, mothers and daughters, and lesbian couples living together. sometimes menstrual synchrony occurred, andsometimes it didn’t. even as recent as 2006, scientists haven’tbeen able to show that the mcclintock effect is a definite thing, or pinpoint potentialcauses.

plus, several researchers have re-analyzedmcclintock’s initial study, and found some problems with her methods. one researcher, for example, suggested thathow the data were collected and analyzed could’ve exaggerated the lack of synchrony at the beginningof the study. like, if someone had their period just beforedata collection started, their next cycle would be in 28-ish days. so if someone had had their period right after data collection started, it would have seem'd like there was a whole month between those cycles,rather than just a couple of days. another team redid the statistical analysis,and suggested that the shift from 6.4 to 4.6

days could’ve happened by chance. any miscalculations or extra data points ina small study can make a huge difference when it comes to finding statistically significantdata. it’s been years since the last publishedstudy on menstrual synchrony, and the inconclusive results seem to suggest that it’s just a coincidence. so why do lots of people still swear thatthis thing exists? it probably comes down to our psychologicalperception. since different people have different menstrualcycles, they might not exactly synchronize. but they can phase in and out of sync.

it’s like when you’re stopped at a redlight, and you notice your turn signal starts blinking in sync with the car in front ofyou: if you wait for a little bit, you’ll phaseout of sync. and if you wait even longer, then you’ll be blinking in unison again. so maybe with a relatively short study onmenstrual cycles -- like seven or eight months in mcclintock’s study -- it might seem likethere’s synchrony. overall, it seems like the mcclintock effectjust doesn’t have enough conclusive research to back it up... but it does show us that a good science experimentisn’t just about proving or disproving something.

today, we’re trying something that’s neverbeen done before. i have made this video and destin has madea video on smarter every day and we want you to play them both at the same time. so there’s a link to his video down in thedescription so find a way to load both of these videos and then synchronize them onmy mark in 5 4 3 2 1 in sydney, australia we are at 34 degreessouth lattitude. which is the opposite side of the world fromhuntsville, alabama. so, which way do the toilets flush? that is the question.

the simpsons did a whole episode based ontoilets flushing the opposite direction in australia. plus, other shows have supposedlydemonstrated this effect. so is this a real effect or not?“the application of this principle to water draining in earth's two hemispheres is justbunk.” if you try it yourself, you’ll find inconsistentresults. this sink sometimes drains one way and sometimesthe other way in any container of water there's always goingto be some rotation. the water is not perfectly still. and it is this, rather than the hemispherethat determines which way the water will swirl down the drain.

but what if we could eliminate all motionfrom the water? i have here a five foot wide kiddy pool i actually filled the pool in the anticlockwisedirection to be sure any clockwise motion we see is not due to how i filled the pool. i’ve left this water sitting here for 24hours. so it seems like i've damped all of the motion from the filling. i really hope this works. destin, wish me luck! i'm about to pull the plug 3... 2... 1...and the pool is draining, but you can't see any motion of the water just yet.

to help us see where the water is flowingi'm going to put some food colouring in on the four cardinal directions around the pool. you can clearly see that the water is flowingclockwise, in this direction and that makes sense because that's how it should flow inthe southern hemisphere due to the earth's rotation. but you can see what a tiny little effectit is and what extraordinary lengths i had to go to to see this effect. so really you'renot going to see it in a bathtub or in a toilet or in a sink because there are other sourcesof angular momentum that totally wash out this effect.

the coriolis effect. there you have it...it works! to understand how it works, imagine a poolwith one edge touching the south pole. the pool is stationary relative to earth,but every day it’s actually completing one full revolution. you can see the side of the pool furthestfrom the pole travels much farther every day than the side right next to the pole. so the outer side of the pool is moving fastesttowards the east and as you get closer to the pole the velocity decreases down to zero. now imagine we drain the pool.

water from the far side is moving too fastrelative to the drain and so it gets out ahead, whereas water from near the pole is goingtoo slow and so it lags behind. so when the water approaches the drain, itswirls clockwise. and this is the reason cyclones swirl clockwisein the southern hemisphere. the higher pressure air rushes into the eyeof the storm and, just like in our pool, swirls in the direction dictated by the hemisphereand that’s the truth about toilet swirl i definitely learned something and if youdid too then you should share these videos with your friends. so you should subscribe to this guy. subscribeto destin, smarter every day.
